About Your Host:
Thomas Charles Clukey is a singer-songwriter from Saco, Maine, whose music is deeply rooted in the landscapes and stories of New England. Growing up in the small town of St. Albans, Thomas was immersed in music from an early age—whether it was listening to Q106.5 Country Music and Country Gold Saturday Night with his dad, or performing in his school band.
With a sound that blends Country, Roots, and Americana, Thomas crafts songs that feel like heart-to-heart conversations. His influences range from modern icons like Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers to timeless storytellers like John Denver. His lyrics reflect the grit and grace of everyday life, often exploring how music serves as therapy—a way to process life’s challenges while honoring his Maine roots.

NotesNovel Jazz is returning to the Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta
on Saturday, 21 December, 2024, 7-9:30 PM, for their first winter solstice
celebration! They will be playing an evening of jazz out of the Great American
Songbook, but all tunes will be befitting the longest night of the year. The
library is located at 184 Main Street, Damariscotta. Admission is free
and all are welcome to this special concert, but in lieu of purchasing a
ticket, the library requests that attendees bring either a financial donation
(suggested $20/person) for the library, food or personal hygiene items for
Skidompha’s Little Food Pantry, all to support other community members in need.
Pantry items must not be expired and must be unopened. Admission is otherwise
free of charge and a donation is not required for attendance. For more info, call

NotesA special afternoon with the iconic jazz clarinetist, Brad Terry and the extraordinary jazz guitarist, Peter Herman.
Brad Terry is a jazz legend and Maine treasure. Brad's musical journey started more than 70 years ago when legendary band leader "King of Swing" Benny Goodman told his mother to buy Brad a clarinet. "I got three free lessons when I bought the instrument and almost immediately, I started playing this wonderful music called jazz. Undiagnosed ADD forced me to learn everything by ear; reading music was not an option. (Later I had three unproductive lessons with Benny )"
It was raw luck that early on Brad started playing with Steve Swallow, Sam Brown & Wayne Wright; did concerts with Chuck Wayne & Joe Puma; sat in at the Celebrity Club and played multiple gigs with Buddy Tate & Buck Clayton.
Later Brad sat in with Eddie Thompson and Major Holly and played for years with Eddie Thompson, even recording a CD with him.
Brad won the Hennessy Cognac Jazz search in NYC with John Basile and recorded a whistling track with Roger Kellaway and Red Mitchell.
Dizzy Gillespie visited for a week doing school programs and invited Brad to New York to play Cuban music with him at The Village Gate.
Brad enjoyed a 25 year partnership with Joachim Mencel in Poland including lots of concerts and school programs and recording 3 CDs. (23 trips to Poland)
While in Poland Brad recorded 2 CDs, 1 Gershwin and 1 Ellington, with Jarek Smietana.
Brad's album with guitar legend and Maine native Lenny Breau, “Livingroom Tapes”, received 4 stars from Leonard Feather.

NotesI'M NOT SURE IF THIS HAPPENS EVERY 1ST WEN OF THE MONTH - CALL AHEAD
How It Works:
Doors open at 6:30PM
In-person sign-ups: 6:30PM – 7:00PM – Drop your name in the lottery; we’ll draw 10 performers (or 12 if time permits.)
Showtime: 7:00PM – 9:30/10:00PM – The night kicks off with a short set from Thomas before performances begin. Each artist gets two songs or 10 minutes—whichever comes first.
Extra Slots? If time allows, we’ll pull more names at 9PM to keep the music going.
Performer Notes:
This open mic is geared toward singer-songwriters to keep transitions between sets short and smooth.
Bands may have a chance to apply for a featured artist slot in the future… stay tuned!
Stick around, support your fellow artists, and grab a drink at the bar!
