notes:
A dynamic band spanning styles from roots to contemporary blues, this driving 4-piece band is sure to scratch your blues itch. The band is fronted by the combo of musical power houses guitarist and vocalist Dave 'Fish' Bottom, and Chris Velletri on tenor sax and vocals. This powerful duo is backed by one of the tightest rhythm sections around consisting of Steve Kaulback on drums and vocals and bassist Marty Lynch. Dave Bottom – Guitar and Vocals Dave picked up his first guitar from a dime store and started teaching himself to play. After flirting with pop music Dave was introduced to blues via the famed British Invasion. That influence underlies the bluesy soloing that Dave brings to his playing; feisty blues steeped in traditional idioms with modern aggression. Dave has performed with LA East, St Amand, Blue Sky Project, Blues Tonight, Maxwell Street and the Voodoo Clowns. Dave is a member of the Maine Blues Hall of Fame. Marty Lynch – Bass and Vocals Marty has been playing bass since the late 80's when he was in an original Americana band, currently called Comanchero, out of Boston. In 2003 he moved to Maine and began playing with Bonnie Edwards and the Practical Cats. He continues to frequent blues jams in the area and current plays with the Blues Mafia, Bluzology, the Voodoo Clowns., Matt and the Barnburners, Luther James and the River Kings and Bonnie Edwards. He plays a combination of upright electric and regular electric bass. Marty is a member of the Maine Blues Hall of Fame. Chris Velletri – Sax and Vocals A New York native, Chris started playing the sax in the third grade. His earliest musical influences include: Benny Carter, Illinois Jacquet, Thelonious Monk, Art Pepper, and Zoot Sims. After college, he relegated his horn to the back of his closet. After a thirty-five-year layoff, Chris got sax out in 2017, and hasn’t looked back. Bitten hard by the blues bug, he bought himself a tenor saxophone and joined the Voodoo Clowns. Steve Kaulback – Drums and Vocals The son of a Navy Commander, Steve started his musical journey in Texas in 1963 singing and drumming. After hearing Albert King’ Live Wire/Blues Power album he knew he was hooked for life. His bands have included: Cottonmouth Blues Band, Arlo West and the LA Bluesmen, The Pinecasters, Juke Joint Devils, Continental Shakedown, Mike Hayward and the Blue Lions, Dave Mello Trio, and the Voodoo Clowns. Steve is a member of the Maine Blues Hall of Fame and is recognized by the Maine Blues Heritage Foundation Museum.
